Crossing Toubkal on a 4-day trek is not only an adventure, it’s a multi-dimensional experience on how it feels like to be connected to the nature, to challenge yourself in physical and mental ways, to experience the moroccan culture firsthand. Whether you are an experienced hiker or trekker or a novice adventurer looking to experience new horizons, this trekking challenge offers memories which will last a lifetime.
Your journey starts in Marrakech with a scenic drive to the charming village of Imlil. It’s Imlil, nestled at the feet of the Atlas Mountains as the gateway to Toubkal. When you get there, you’ll be met by your guide and muleteers for your walk. Accommodation in the village itself, and surrounding area, to acclimatize to the altitude. Trek across terraced fields, browse local markets and get a taste of Berber culture. Sleep overnight in a typical guesthouse, taste a delicious Moroccan dishes.
You will start the hike to the 4,167m summit of Mount Jebel Toubkal after a hearty breakfast. The path takes you through beautiful valleys and mountainous terrain as you enjoy breathtaking views of snow capped peaks and serene nature. You will pass through the village of Aroumd, and the Mizane Valley to Sidi Chamharouch, a popular pilgrimage site among locals. Here you can rest and feel the spiritual vibe before you keep on climbing. By late in the afternoon you’ll be at Toubkal Base Camp (3,200 metres), where you’ll spend the night camping.
Today is the highlight of your trek—the ascent to Mount Toubkal’s summit! You’ll start early in the morning under starlit skies to make the most of favorable weather conditions. The climb is challenging but rewarding as you navigate rocky paths and steep inclines. As you approach the summit, the panoramic views become increasingly spectacular. Finally, standing atop North Africa’s highest peak, you’ll be greeted with awe-inspiring vistas stretching across the Atlas Mountains and beyond. After savoring this triumphant moment and capturing plenty of photos, you’ll descend back to base camp for a well-deserved rest.
On your last day, you’ll follow the same route back to Imlil. It’s cheap. Plus, going down the mountain is definitely the easy part, so you can enjoy the sights without an exhausting workout. Relax and soak up your amazing experiences over a hearty lunch in the village of Imlil when you arrive. In the afternoon you will be driven back to Marrakech or you can explore Morocco or catch your flight back home.

You do not require any technical climbing skills, however, you need to be in good shape and possess a high level of fitness due to the altitude you will be at and the number of hours each day you will be hiking.

The best times of year are in, late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October) when the weather conditions tend to be more favorable.
