Leave Fes in the morning and drive through beautiful hills, olive trees, and Berber villages to get to Volubilis; while you are driving, look at all the places that you are passing on your trip to Volubilis.

When you arrive at Volubilis, you will see some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in Africa, including the capitol, basilicas, and amazing mosaics. You will also be able to take pictures of an arch that has become one of the most photographed landmarks at Volubilis.

Midday:

Continue to Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, a town built on a hillside and named after the founder of the first Moroccan dynasty; there are white houses everywhere you go, and from its narrow streets you will be able to see a panoramic view of the entire region surrounding the town.

Stop for drinks and/or a local snack.

Afternoon:

Travel to Meknes, one of Morocco’s 4 imperial cities; the Bab Mansour gate is the main entrance into the imperial area of Meknes and is a stunning structure featuring elaborate tile work and large scale.

The next stop will be the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail; he was the sultan who has had the most influence on modern-day city development in Meknes.

Take time to walk through the Medina of Meknes; you will have an opportunity to shop for Moroccan crafts and sample some authentic Moroccan food during lunch.

Evening:

Return to Fes and reminisce about all of the Roman history, the grandeur of the city, and the richness of the Moroccan cultural experience.
