Overview

Embark on an incredible 2-day trek in the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech. It is a short experience and adventure into the natural beauty of Morocco and the culture of the Berber people. The trek takes you into the heart of the High Atlas Mountains where lush valleys, snow-peaked mountains, and traditional villages unveil the meaning of life in the Moroccan mountains.

You will discover the trails around Imlil after leaving Marrakech, your adventure will include views whilst hiking the Tizi Mzik Pass, and fantastic views of the Tamsoulte Waterfall, which is the highest waterfall in the Atlas Mountains. You will benefit from stunning panoramic views of Mount Toubkal, hike through massive juniper forests, and then you will also spend the night in a Berber guesthouse in the village of Tizi Oussem.

This trek is designed for those that love adventure, or cultural experience and mixes moderate hiking, authentic local experiences, and some stunning scenery into one of the best short treks from Marrakech!

After breakfast in Marrakech, you’ll be picked up for a scenic drive to the High Atlas Mountains, passing through Tahnnaout, Oued Ghighaya, and Asni. Enjoy views of terraced fields and Berber villages as you ascend towards Imlil (65 km from Marrakech).

Upon arrival, meet your local guide and muleteer before starting your trek. Climb steadily to Tizi Mzik Pass (2684m), offering spectacular panoramas over Imlil Valley and the Toubkal Massif. Continue to Tamsoulte Waterfalls, the highest in the Atlas Mountains (100 meters), then descend through juniper forests into the Azzaden Valley.

Arrive at Tizi Oussem village, where you’ll enjoy Berber hospitality in a traditional guesthouse.

After breakfast, take in the peaceful mountain atmosphere and views of the colorful Azzaden Valley. Continue your trek through Id Issa village, ascending gradually to Tizi Oudid Pass (2000m), where panoramic views open across terraced farmlands.

Descend through Mattat village, passing wild juniper forests and walnut groves. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the river before meeting your driver in Agersioual for your return to Marrakech, arriving around 5:00 PM.
