Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport, you will be greeted by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring traditional Moroccan cuisine. Spend the evening exploring the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa square, where you can experience the bustling atmosphere of street performers, food stalls, and local artisans.
After breakfast, we embark on a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. En route, we will stop at the historic Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning architecture and as a filming location for many famous movies. Continue to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Check into your hotel and relax before dinner.
Today, we journey towards Tazzarine, passing through picturesque landscapes of palm groves and desert plateaus. Our first petroglyph site visit will be at Ait Ouazik, where you can marvel at ancient rock carvings depicting animals and human figures. These petroglyphs offer a glimpse into the lives of early inhabitants of the region. Arrive in Tazzarine by late afternoon and check into your accommodation.
Spend the day exploring more petroglyph sites around Tazzarine. We will visit Alnif and Jbel Saghro, where you can find an array of fascinating rock art that dates back thousands of years. Learn about the significance of these carvings from our knowledgeable guide and enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the stunning desert scenery. Return to Tazzarine for an evening at leisure.
After breakfast, we head towards Zagora, known for its dramatic desert landscapes and rich history. On our way, we will stop at additional petroglyph sites such as Foum Chenna, where intricate carvings adorn the rocks. Upon arrival in Zagora, check into your hotel and take some time to relax or explore the town’s markets and historical sites.
Our adventure continues as we travel deeper into the Sahara Desert towards M’Hamid. This area is renowned for its extensive petroglyph collections. In the evening, experience a traditional Berber camp under the stars with music and stories around a campfire.
