This 6-day circuit offers an incredible blend of natural beauty, physical challenge, and cultural immersion. Whether you’re an experienced trekker or new to mountain hiking, this adventure promises memories that will last a lifetime.
Your adventure begins in the picturesque village of Imlil, nestled at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your guide and muleteers who will accompany you throughout the trek. Spend the day exploring Imlil, acclimatizing to the altitude, and preparing for the days ahead. Overnight in a local guesthouse.
After a hearty breakfast, set off on your trek towards Tacheddirt. The trail ascends gradually through lush valleys and terraced fields before reaching the Tizi n’Tamatert pass (2,279 meters). From here, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks before descending into the remote village of Tacheddirt. Overnight in a traditional Berber house.
Today’s trek takes you deeper into the heart of the High Atlas Mountains. The path winds through rugged terrain and past ancient juniper forests as you make your way to Azib Likemt. This area is known for its serene beauty and solitude, offering a true escape from civilization. Camp overnight under the starry sky.
One of the highlights of this circuit is reaching Lac d’Ifni, a stunning alpine lake situated at an altitude of 2,295 meters. The trek involves crossing several high passes and navigating rocky trails before descending to the lake’s shores. The crystal-clear waters of Ifni Lake provide a perfect spot for relaxation and reflection after a challenging day on the trail. Camp overnight by the lake.
Leaving Ifni Lake behind, you’ll begin your ascent towards Refuge du Toubkal (3,207 meters), which serves as a base camp for those aiming to summit Mount Toubkal. The trail offers spectacular views of jagged peaks and deep valleys as you climb higher into the mountains. Arrive at the refuge in time for dinner and rest up for tomorrow’s summit attempt. Overnight in the refuge.
Rise early for your final push to the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167 meters), North Africa’s highest peak. The ascent is steep and challenging but rewards you with unparalleled views over the High Atlas range and beyond. After celebrating your achievement at the summit, descend back to Refuge du Toubkal for lunch before continuing down to Imlil. Your journey concludes with an evening transfer back to Marrakech or another destination of your choice.
